1920 census, IA, Howard Co, Cresco, @ 425 Second Ave. West, David D. (86-PA-PA-PA) and Sarah (80-IL-NY-OH) Hunter are with their son Christian (listed in error as David D. in census) and his family. 1910 census, Cresco, Vernon Springs twp, Howard Co, Iowa (Cherry Street) lists David D. (76-mar. 52y-PA-PA-PA) and Sarah R. (70-ch. 2,2[?]-IL-NY-OH) Hunter with granddaughters Mildred L. 8 and Doris C. 6 Wentworth. Adjacent to them is widowed George H. Wentworth with children and niece Mable 10. 1900 Census & Soundex: Cresco (city), Howard County, Iowa, lists David D. (age 66, born Jan., 1834 in Pennsylvania) and Sarah R. Hunter (age 60, born November 1939 in Illinois), both married for 43 years, with two children at home - Ina (age 27, born March 1873 in Missouri) and Christian (age 19, born June 1881 in Iowa). Sarah is mother of 12 children, seven still living. 1895 census: Vernon Springs Twp., Howard Co., IA lists David D. (60-PA) and Sarah R. (55-IL) Hunter with 3 children: Ina 21, Louisa C. 19 and Christian W. 13. Baptist was church listing. Apparently all could read and write. Living adjacent to them is the widowed - Harriet W. Wentworth and four children - including Sherman F. Also living 3 households from them is his nephew, James-812 and Florence Hunter and family. 1885 Census: (1 JAN) IA, Winneshiek Co., Freemont Twp., P.O.=Kendellville includes David Dick (51-PA) and Sarah (45-IL) with Lovina (14-MO), Ina (21-MO), Louisa (9-KS) and Christian (3-IA). Datus E. (26-Winneshiek Co) is a farmer with another household. Albert (24-WI) and Lucinda (23-Winn. Co.) Albertson are also in the same township. 1881: Death record: June 7, 1881 in Howard Co by Arthur A. Eddy, M.D. of Cresco; Rosae Hunter, White female, died Mar. 26, 1881 @ age 13 yr, 2 mon, 2 day; born in MO, Iowa resident for 2 years, died in Fremont Twp. of Winneshiek Co, IA of smallpox. Was buried March 26, 1881 in Fremont twp., Winneshiek Co., IA. In 1881, when Adah Rosetta died, the Hunter family was living in Kendallville and had 8 children with small pox. [Thus the family returned to Iowa in about 1879.] 1880 census: Orleans township, Winneshiek Co, Iowa, page 213, lists - D.D. (46-farmer-PA-PA-PA) and Sarah (40-IL-NY-OH) Hunter with Mary (20-IA), Sarah (16-IA), Adah (12-IA), Lovisa (9-MO), Ina I. (7-MO), Louisa C. (5-KS) and Alice (1-AR). In Village of Kendallville, Winneshiek Co., Rosa Hunter (13-IA-PA-PA) is boarder with Mary and Richard Barnes; Edward Weed (35-PA-PA-PA) is also with this family, as well as Ella Fleming. [Is this another listing for Adah Rosetta?] 1870 census: MO, Polk Co., Marion Twp., P.O.=Humansville, 4th Aug., lists David D. (36-PA) and Sarah R. (30-IL) Hunter with Datus E. 12, Mary D. 10, Sarah L. 7, and Addie R. 2 (all born in IA) Hunter and Edward S. Weed (25-PA) 1860 census:Fremont Township, Winneshiek Co., Iowa, P.O.=Plymouth Rock; 18 JULY lists David D. (25) and Sarah R. (age 20) with Datus (2) and Mary (5/12) and includes David M. (76). 1856, OCT 6 - David Hunter bought 120 acres (receipt # 10066)) in Winneshiek Co. - Section 29 Township 100N, Range 10W (W 1/2 of S.W. 1/4 and S.E. 1/4 of S. W. 1/4). He sold this for $600 to William M. Stanford on 4 OCT 1858. (See copy in file). Jarod W. Hunter also sold land in Winneshiek Co on March 22, 1859. 1856 Census - Iowa, Winnishiek Co., Burr Oak Twp. has David D. Hunter (22-PA-farmer) listed with Jared (37-PA) and Lousia (30-PA) Hunter with children 12 to 0 (Orsin K.,Wm S.B., Francis, James M., David M., Sarah, Mary A. and Aisenath) (all born in PA except Aisenath =IA). Also included was David M. Hunter (72-PA-Farmer). 1850 census: PA, Crawford Co, Randolp twp, - David (16) is with parents, David M. (67) and Sarah (54) Hunter and sister Lovina (11). 1845 - Iowa became a STATE. Birth record of Christian Wayne Hunter lists David D. Hunter as age 47 in 1881, born in PA, nationality American. Occupation = farmer. Oma's Book lists David Dick Hunter as born on Jan 4, 1834 and died on Aug. 1921. Marriage record located in Preston, (Filmore Co.), MN court house - June, 1991.
