1953 record by Bessie (Hunter) Minaker lists Sarah's birth place as either: Rockton, Winnebago Co. or Auburn, Clark Co, Illinois. Obituary lists Auburn, Clark Co., Illinois. Sarah Rachel JEFFERS Hunter died in Watertown, South Dakota while at the home of her daughter Mary Debrah HUNTER. She is buried at Cresco, Iowa (buried in Eddy Cemetery, Kendallville). Her grandson, Dick Henry Beman, escorted the body back to Iowa from South Dakota. The South Dakota obituary says her husband died in Iowa only a few months previously. Birth record of Christian Wayne lists her as age 42 in 1881, born in IL, American Nationality. Her death record #2040 lists her birth date as NOV 18, 1837 and her age as 82 y, 1 mon, and 14 days, but date of burial is listed as Jan. 8, 1922. (Thus birth date should be about 1839). Tombstone and Iowa obituary lists birthdate as 1839.
