Granddaughter of Aaron Wheeler and Margaret Harper, his wife. Gr.-granddaughter of Alexan der Harper and Elizabeth Bartholomew, his wife. Alexander Harper, (1744-98), was appointed l ieutenant 1777 and promoted captain of Tryon county, New York militia. He was captured by th e Tories and Indians under Brandt 1780, taken to Fort Niagara where he was held a prisoner fo r over two years. He was born in Middletown, Conn.; died in Harpersfield, Ohio.
