[1] 1860 US Census Dell Prairie, Adams Co, WI (photocopy - see father) The record shows Charles living with his parents and three sisters, Adelaide (22y), Evaline ( 14y), and Laurie (11y). Charles was 7 years old at the time of the census on August 8th. Thi s is consistant with the Dec 1852 shown by other sources. The record also shows he was bor n in Ohio, as was his father. His mother was born in Massachussetts. [1] 1870 US Census Sherman, Dunn Co, WI (photocopy - see father) The record shows Charles living with his parents Charles and Laura. He was 17 years old at th e time of the census on August 3rd, which is consistant previous census data. The record als o shows he was born in Ohio, as was his father. His mother was born in Massachussetts. [1] 1880 US Census Tiffany, Dunn Co, WI ED144 - page 157B frame 10 (photocopy) The record shows Charles living with his wife Prudence. He is 27 years old at the time of th e census on June 12th, which is consistant previous census data. The record also shows he wa s born in Ohio, as did previous census records but it shows his father born in NY. This confl icts with previous census records showing his father was born in Ohio. His mother's birthplac e was not recorded, indicating that Charles' wife Prudence probably responded to the census q uestionnaire. [1] 1900 US Census Webster, Day Co, SD ED128 - page 19B frame 38 (photocopy) The record shows Charles living with his second wife Cecelia (27y - born Germany), and six ch ildren, Hellen (19y), Robert (15y), Charles (13y), Grant (8y), Carl (4y), and Earl (4). Char les is 47 years old at the time of the census on June 22nd, which is consistant previous cens us data. It also shows he was born in Dec of 1852, that he was married to Cecelia for 10 year s, and was a farmer. Unlike previous census records, this one shows his father was born in Oh io and his mother born in NY. [2] Charles E. married Prudence Granger on Xmas 1872 in Dunn County where they started thei r family. After his parents died (his mother was the last and died in 1886) Charles E. and hi s family moved to Webster, Day Co, South Dakota. The daughters of Charles and Laura married i n La Crosse and ended up moving to California.
