New Town Limavady

The river shown is the Roe river which comes down from the hills and emptys into the Lache Foyle northwest of Londonderry. This area of northcentral Ulster was granted to Sir Thomas Philips for this military services and granted by the King of England. His Baun or walled multistory house was located on an old celtic village site and was called Limavadde. New Town Limavady was established about a miles up river and was the location where John Harper was born in 1705.
