The note below is an example of the military experience John Harper had going into the American Revolution. Having been first been commissioned on January 5th, 1755, he had a measurable degree of experience. Here, he applied the 'Law of Arms' to discipline in his Militia Unit. The Law of Arms had been around since mideaval times. One account states it's beginnings 1068 two years after the Battle of Hastings. It represents English Law as it is applied to war and military discipline. The term is still in use today. (Transcription below image) |
