Robert Harper's commission as Asst. P.R.M. in Nathaniel King's Quartermaster Company

Letter in Alexender Harper Family Papers signed by Robert Harper as Quarter Master Sergeant
(Note, in some references Robert's capacity is shown as Asst. P. F. M - the meaning of this accronym is Assistant Primary Forage Master. The specific duties were to assist The Primary Forage Master, specifically, Nathaniel King in performing the duties of making certain the 1500 men in Major General Wadsworth's detachment were fed, clothed and the livestock had feed.)

11 page transcription of the daily Ration report for the month of November, 1812. This rare document gives a glimpse into the groups which made up the detachment on a daily basis and interesting detail on the daily rations drawn for field troops. e.g. in addition to the expected sections of the detachment are Boat Builders, Waggoners, Prisoners and Hospital, each with an account of the number of persons each day. (Note this is in PDF Format) This transcription is left with spelling errors, and is a close as I could read from the microfilm images of the original documents. Because this is such a detailed daily accounting, it is hoped that serious scholars of the War of 1812 may find useful information in its contents.

Rosters of Northeast Ohio Militia Units taken from the Ohio Adjutants Office Publication entitled "Rosters of the Ohio Militia in the War of 1812". Many units were not itentified as to the county they were from in Ohio. These were simply marked as "County Unknown". In a few instances, other material has been used to identify which county they were from and in those cases I have lined out "County Unknown" and identified the county of the unit.

First published personal account of the Skirmish on the Sandusky Peninsula, September 29, 1812 written by Joshua R. Giddings of Ashtabula County. Published in the 4th issue of Vol. 1 of the Firelands Pioneer in May, 1859. The eight pages extracted here are in PDF format.
