A Portion of the Province of New York, 1749

 

This map close-up shows the Mohawk and Cherry Valley about 5 years before John Harper moved his family there. This is a portion of the full map which depicts the Middle Colonies showing topography, roads, principal settlements and Native American villages.
The Title of the map is "A map of Pensilvania, New-Jersey, New York, And the three Delaware Counties. The maps' full dimensions are width 51 cm and height of 67 cm. It was created by Lewis Evans and published in Philadelphia in 1749. A copy of the map is in the collection of the John Carter Brown Library.
