Notes

Obituary from Ashtabula Sentinel Jan 25, 1894 William Hendry "William Hendry was born Oct 7, 1807 at Harpersfield, Ashtabula county, O., and died at Madison, O., Jan. 3, 1894, making his age 86 years; 2 months and 3 days. His home was at Harpersfield until 1866, when he moved to Madison, where he has since resided. He served two terms as Sheriff of Ashtabula Co., to the full satisfaction of the people. He was in early days an Abolitionist, latterly a Republican. He voted as he prayed. He was educated at Perry, Ohio. He always had a cheerful and genial way with him, and in consequence had many friends. But few men had as large an acquaintance in Ashtabula county as he had when Sheriff. Early in life he became a member of the Congregational church and his life was in harmony with his profession. He always took a hearty interest in political matters - an old landmark has passed away. He was the last of his family. He loved to talk of the events that occurred 50 years ago - in fact he lived in the past. With a full rounded life of years he died, as we all hope to die, in the full faith of the Master."
